Code of EthicsFrom its beginning, the profession of social work has stressed the importance of ethical conduct and responsibility to clients, colleagues, and society. In 1996, NASW's Delegate Assembly approved a new Code of Ethics for the profession. The 1999 Delegate Assembly reaffirmed a revised version of this code.Carol Brill, Ph.D., ACSW, LICSW, a member of the committee that developed the Code of Ethics, wrote two interesting articles explaining the code:
