Committees and Activities

The New Hampshire Chapter has a committee to interest every NASW member. Working on a chapter committee can be stimulating and informative. It also helps contribute to the development of our profession. All NASW members are welcome to join the committees listed here. Social & Legislative Action Committee (SLAC) - Chair- Cynthia Moniz, PhD, MSW
To develop an annual legislative agenda and to publicize and involve members in the promotion and awareness of the Chapter's activities. Read more about SLAC.

Meets 3rd Tuesday of every month from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the Chapter office.

Public Relations Committee- (needs Chair)
To develop news releases, etc. to promote events that the Chapter wishes to inform members and the public about.

Annual Meeting Committee- CHair- Maria Gagnon, LICSW
To plan and coordinate the Annual Meeting.

Clinical Social Work Committee- Chair- Jill Johnson Bardsley, LICSW
To supervise continuing education for the NH. Chapter NASW; To offer forums to discuss issues relevant to the practice of clinical social work; To advocate for and engage in political endeavors affecting clinicians and those whom they serve; To present monthly workshops in committee meetings with CEU's attached.

Meets 2nd Friday of every month from 9:00am-11:00am at the Chapter office.

Newsletter Committee
To assure publication of the Chapter newsletter and to work with committees and the Board to publicize and inform members of events, job openings, etc.

Diversity Awareness Committee- (needs Chair)

NH Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) - Chair- Jill Johnson Bardsley, LICSW
To provide a legal way for NASW-NH to make campaign contributions to candidates on the local level. This committee is primarily focused on electoral activities aimed at supporting specific candidates who promote or espouse NASW policies. Read more about PACE.

Meets 3rd Tuesday of every month from 5:30pm-6:30pm at the Chapter office.

Children's Issues Committee- Chair- Christine Cummings, LICSW, MSW
To identify the broader causes of social problems within the local and state community; to actively work toward the elimination of these causes of dysfunction through advocating change of the social service system itself. To work collaboratively with other child advocacy groups to address issues; to work with the SLAC committee to improve social institutions, systems, legislation, and practice that impose hardship on children and families.

Meets 1st Tuesday of every month from 8:30am-10:00am at Casey Family Services in Concord. Please note: Regular meetings will resume in September.

Home Health & Hospice Committee- Chair- Laurie Farmer, LICSW, MSW
To provide a forum for social workers in NH that are providing Home Care & Hospice Services to come together for purposes of colleague support, sharing of community resource information, continued expansion of education to other agencies and professional as to the nature of our work, and also continue education and support to the clientele in our care.

Meets monthly, 2nd Tuesday (Jan, March, May, July, Sept, Nov) or 2nd Monday (Feb, April, June, August, October, Dec) of the month from 8:30am-10am at the NH-NASW office. The Monday meetings are scheduled for collaboration time/case presentation and the Tuesday meetings generally have a specific topic and presenter who shares resource information.

The meetings are casual and a wonderful way to connect with other social workers in this field. We often share challenging cases, resources, and have stimulating discussions regarding the work we do.
